A company is only as good as the people that put their time and energy into it, and a volunteer fire department is no exception. Everyone can contribute to the continued success of the Bloomsburg Fire Department; if you have a strength, we can find a place for you!
There are many classes of membership open, each meeting different needs and requiring different skill sets.
Types of Membership:
Junior Firefighter - Our Junior Firefighter program allow minors aged 14-17 to join our dept. and participate in trainings and classes to become Active Firefighters when they turn 18
Active Firefighter - This involves some training and allows the member to be involved in what are considered "traditional" aspects of a fire department: fire suppression, driving apparatus, water and vehicle rescues
Fire Police - An integral part of any fire department, the fire police help control any foot and vehicle traffic around a fire ground or community event. Although no less important, this requires less training and is less physically demanding
Social Member - Becoming a part of the fire department does not have to involve ANY physically-demanding or safety-compromising situations. Our social members can help with bingos and other fundraising ventures, as well as the business end of firefighting, including paperwork and accounting
